When Is The Swing The Blues Workshop?

March 25th - 29th, 2026. There will be a welcome reception on the 25th once everyone has arrived (7pm). Classes will run daily from 9am till 3pm with a break for lunch, which is included. Late afternoons and evenings will have time for facilitated jamming, special presentations, and mingling with fellow players.

The capstone of this workshop is an instructor led jam with a world class rhythm section (upright bass and drums). We’ll be in a great space, with plenty of pizza and beer to go around!

Where Is The Workshop?

Oklahoma City, OK, USA. We will be at the historic Fordson Hotel, a 1920s era Ford Plant that built thousands of Model T’s…it still has one in the lobby! The hotel has a great vibe, amazing rooms, two restaurants on site, as well as a breakfast bodega. https://fordsonhotel.com/

There are additional restaurants from fast food to sit down within a short walk. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you nearby too. It is approximately a 15 min. Uber/Taxi ride from Will Rogers Airport (OKC).

Will I Need to Bring My Instrument?

While you could get something out of the classes without an instrument, it is strongly encouraged to bring a guitar. If bringing an electric guitar, a small portable amp like The Spark Mini or Blackstar Fly would be a great addition to your travel rig.

Can I Learn to Play Guitar Here/What Skill Level Should I Be At?

The camp is set up to be an intensive on Swing and Jump Blues Guitar styles. As such you should be familiar with various chord shapes (including bar chords), triads, pentatonic scales, and have some experience in this style. Much of the music is 12 bar blues based, but there will be topics that touch on common “Jazzy” progressions like Rhythm Changes, 32 bar forms, etc. We have a couple of introductory lessons and some online workshops to help prepare you too.

Is There an Age Limit?

Anyone under the age of 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Any applicable local laws/ordinances regarding the consumption of alcohol will be in effect.

Cancellation policy?

Cancelling up to 90 days out from the event will give you a full refund, within 90 days 50% is held until your spot is taken, and within 30 days there is no refund.

PAYMENTS & CHARGES

Your tuition will be charged immediately upon ordering and will show up as SQUARESPACE PAYMENTS and/or SwingTheBluesWorkshops. Your hotel charges will be done separately (a booking link will be in your order receipt and other follow-up information) with the Fordson Hotel and will be charged upon check-in.
